Devices, Browsers and the Mobile App
Learning Clarity runs in a web browser on any device — phone, tablet or laptop — and there are also iOS and Android apps. Everything in the web version works on a phone screen, including the voice features, provided you allow microphone access when asked.
The Web Version, on Any Device
There is nothing to install to get started. Signing in from a phone browser gives you the same product as a laptop — creating topics, Explain Mode, quizzes, exams, podcasts and spoken conversations all work. Use a current version of whichever browser you prefer and keep it up to date, since the voice and audio features rely on capabilities that older browsers may not have.
The iOS and Android Apps
There are native apps for iPhone and Android as well. They are worth having if you study on a phone regularly, and there is one thing that can only be done there: deleting your account permanently is available in the mobile app, not on the web.
Microphone Permission
The spoken conversation needs access to your microphone, so your browser or phone will ask for permission the first time you start a call. If you decline, the call cannot hear you — you can still type your side of the conversation instead, and the answer still comes back spoken. If you declined by accident, the permission can be re-enabled in your browser's site settings or your phone's app settings.
Listening While You Are Doing Something Else
A podcast episode can be downloaded as an MP3, which is the option to use when you will be somewhere with poor signal or want it in your usual audio app. Read-aloud sections play inside the app rather than downloading, and the podcast player keeps playing while you move around the rest of the app.
