Also called the 80/20 rule, it's an observation that roughly 80% of outcomes come from 20% of causes. Applied to learning: a small subset of concepts often provides the foundation for understanding the majority of a subject.
How to Apply It in Learning Clarity
1Review Your Topic Roadmap
After the AI generates your sub-topics, scan the list. Identify which sub-topics are foundational — concepts that other sub-topics depend on. These are your 20%.
For example, in a "Web Development" topic, understanding HTML structure is foundational. Advanced CSS animations is not. Start with the foundation.
2Sprint the Foundations First
Use the 20/10 sprint (Explain Mode, then Quiz Mode) on your foundational sub-topics first. Get these to high mastery before touching the rest. A strong foundation makes everything else easier.
3Use Quiz Scores as a Compass
After quizzing on the foundational topics, check your dashboard. If your mastery is high on the core 20%, you'll find the remaining 80% of sub-topics significantly easier. The AI's roadmap is already structured to build on prior knowledge — you're accelerating the process by prioritizing correctly.
