Explain Mode can read any section out loud. Press Listen and the text on screen is spoken to you — useful on a commute, while resting your eyes, or when hearing a sentence makes it land better than reading it. The first reading of a section uses credits; every replay after that is free.

Reading and listening use different kinds of attention. A paragraph that refuses to go in on the fourth read often lands the first time you hear someone say it.
Where to Find It
Open any topic in Explain Mode. Each section has a Listen button. Press it once, the audio is prepared, and it plays.
What It Costs
Preparing a section uses credits, and the button tells you so before you press it: "Uses credits the first time. Replays are free." Once a section has been prepared, the reading is kept, so listening to that same section again costs nothing.

If you plan to go through a topic more than once, only the first pass through each section is charged. Every repeat listen is free.
Limits
Very long sections — a section beyond the reader's length limit cannot be read aloud. Breaking the topic into smaller subtopics solves this.
Nothing to read — a section made up only of an image or a diagram has no text to speak.
One at a time — only one section is prepared at a time. Wait for the current one to finish before starting another.
Languages
A section is read in the language its content is written in. Arabic is read by an Arabic voice; other languages use the default voice.
Read It Aloud or a Podcast?
They are different things. Read It Aloud speaks the explanation exactly as written, word for word, with a single narrator. A podcast episode is a new conversation between a host and a guest, written about the same material — different words, two voices, and downloadable as a file.

Does listening cost credits every time?›
No. Only the first time a section is prepared. After that the reading is kept and every replay of that section is free.
I pressed Listen and nothing is happening. What now?›
Preparing a reading takes a moment. If it is taking longer than usual, press Listen again shortly — if it has already finished, it plays straight away.
Can I download a section's audio?›
No. Section readings play inside the app. If you want an audio file to keep, generate a podcast episode instead — those can be downloaded.
Why can't it read this section?›
Either the section is longer than the reader can handle, or it contains no readable text — a diagram on its own, for example.
Is it the same voice as the podcast?›
No. A reading uses a single narrator. A podcast episode uses two voices — a host and a guest.
Does it handle equations and technical terms properly?›
It speaks the text as it is written, and there is no special handling for mathematical notation. Ordinary technical vocabulary is read normally, but a symbol-heavy formula will be read literally rather than interpreted, so it is not a substitute for reading the maths on screen. For equation-dense sections, read the text in Explain Mode and use listening for the surrounding explanation.
